E-commerce Growth in Pakistan: Find the Bottleneck Before Buying More Ads
Review product pages, checkout, COD handling, returns and contribution per order before increasing your online store advertising budget.
More store traffic is useful only when the store and operations can turn relevant visits into fulfilled, paid orders. Before increasing advertising, follow a sample of recent orders from the product page to settlement. The most urgent issue may be a confusing size option, a failed checkout or an unresolved return.
This is a review method for a small online store. It is not an industry growth forecast, a client case study or a promise of sales.
Check the product decision on mobile
Use representative products with sizes, colours and delivery restrictions. Can a customer identify the variant, price, availability, delivery terms and return rules before placing an order? Review what happens when an unavailable combination is selected. Photos and size information should describe the actual item.
Ask a person unfamiliar with the catalogue to find one item and explain what they expect to receive. Record where they hesitate. One session can reveal a problem, but it does not establish a conversion rate for all customers.
Trace checkout and confirmation separately
Test missing fields, unsupported delivery areas, a failed payment and a repeated submission. The order confirmation should explain whether the request has been accepted or awaits staff approval. Use synthetic records and the provider's supported testing process; do not create chargeable shipments just to test the interface.
For COD, track confirmation, packing, dispatch, delivery or return and courier settlement as separate stages. A placed order is not collected revenue. Read the COD workflow guide for a practical record structure.
Work out what remains after fulfilling an order
Use your actual records to compare collected revenue with product cost, packaging, delivery, payment or COD charges, discounts, returns and campaign spend. Identify whether figures represent placed, delivered or settled orders and use a consistent period. This is an internal planning exercise; ask your accounts adviser how to treat tax and accounting entries.
A campaign dashboard's attributed revenue may differ from settled revenue in your business records. Reconcile the order references before treating one as proof of the other.
Make repeat contact expected and useful
Keep accurate customer permission and preference records. An order-status update and a promotion are different messages. Do not treat every number on an old spreadsheet as permission for a campaign. Assign staff to answer replies and maintain opt-out suppression.
A useful follow-up might explain care instructions or an order issue. Decide the purpose before choosing automation. See WhatsApp workflow planning for channel and handoff questions.
Choose one next improvement
- If customers ask the same size question, improve the product information.
- If checkout fails, repair and retest that journey before adding traffic.
- If orders wait unassigned, define staff ownership and status meanings.
- If returns are unclear, record reasons consistently before redesigning the process.
- If settlement differs from delivery totals, reconcile courier references.
Record the change, dates, sample and outcome. Compare like periods and disclose changes in products, offers or traffic. A small sample is a starting point for investigation, not proof of a lasting uplift.
BringPak can scope an e-commerce website, order management or staff follow-up workflow around the bottleneck you identify.
Work through an order settlement example
